Overview

“Let LOVE Guide Your Way: a celebration of Kindness”

The art piece, “Let LOVE Guide Your Way” is a free-standing 16-foot tall functioning weathervane that features a 15.5-foot rotating-circumference kinetic wind vane or Cupid’s Arrow.

South Florida public artist Lloyd Goradesky‘s famed interactive art project ‘Let LOVE Guide Your Way’, is a spinning red metallic heart made into a Cupids Arrow kinetic weathervane capturing the wind and points in the direction of LOVE.

Currently on displayed at City Hall Dania Beach, Florida Aug 12, 2022 (Issuewire.com) – Prominent South Florida public artist Lloyd Goradesky created Let LOVE Guide Your Way to celebrate kindness, and to share the message of universal LOVE, while encouraging compassion, consideration, and tolerance for everyone. The Project is community interactive and encourages individual participation with stories, interviews & news of kindness. Let LOVE Guide Your Way.

Goradesky’s eye-catching sculpture is a kinetic, candy red weathervane that stands 16 feet high and weighs 5,000 pounds. The kinetic sculpture was the highlight of the 2019 & 2021 International Kinetic Art Exhibit and Symposium on display for public viewing for one year in Boynton Beach, FL.

Goals

As a seasoned Public Artist, I have been involved with many Public Art Projects. My goal was to create a public art project that did not have the same issues as previous accomplishments. I wanted to create a project that had zero limitations from client budget and external creative desires and I wanted to make a piece of art that would be for me. Let LOVE Guide Your Way has removed all errors and political pressures and included only those characteristics that a public art project should have incorporated into the art & design. For example, using the value of social media to spread the message of the art and that encourages the viewer to capture selfies and using color; kinetics that encourages the viewer to capture video of the movement.

Process

My business plan has emulated Christo & Jean-Claude. My work, Gator in the Bay, has been compared to Christo by the Discovery Channel. Christo had created the plans for over 90 projects and sadly the world only saw less than 30 project. Like Christo, I have created the plans for a multitude of large scale art projects and look to apply each project based on site-specific requirements.

For this project, the original request was from the City of Boynton Beach to create a kinetic sculpture for the 2019 International Kinetic Art & Symposium. I feel it is important to create art that has a functionality and a vibrance in color and finish. My art is created using my team of artisans who have worked with me for many years and on many projects. Creating a functioning weathervane is not as easy as it may look. In fact, the engineering is quite intense and using physics to self-balance two shapes that are not equal in design nor weight is very challenging. Side Note: The piece withstood gail force winds from Hurricane Michael.
