Key West City Hall
Overview
Murals face each other across the ramped entry to the Key West City Hall. They are each 5′ x 15′, tapered at the bottom edge to conform to the angle of the ramp. Oil on canvas mounted on panels.
Goals
These works had to be shaped perfectly to conform to their ramped location. The goal was to portray the history, culture and environment of Key West as an active work of art, rather than a chamber of commerce style of promotional imagery.
Process
The collaboration was focused on content, with contributions from local officials, historians, residents and patrons. Key West has a rich history that is highly multicultural and goes far beyond the common perception of a tourist/cruise ship destination.
