Where They Dwell is inspired by the Aesop Fable, The Lion and The Oxen. The sculpture is meant to remind all those that visit that we are stronger as a society when we work together.
Where They Dwell is sculpted concrete on a steel frame. The sculpture was built in three sections at the nearby NoCo Community Art center with the help of community members. Once completed, the sections were put in place with a crane, bolted together and the seams were filled and sculpted. The sculpture was stained and sealed on location.
This project and programming was made possible by the support of the Indiana Arts Commission, the Community Arts Program, Hanover College and The National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. This project was curated and managed by Jeffersonville's Public Arts Coordinator, Dawn Spyker.
