Overview

Works used for a lectionary series by embracing beauty while exploring images inspired by scripture and ancient iconography. The pieces were large scale paintings using mixed media on canvas and each 36″ x 48″

Goals

The artwork was to be elegant and beautiful, to provide strong identity while reflecting a sense of ritual, the seasons, the Word and sacrament. There was a desire for richness and the possibility to imbue a sense of the spiritual in the pieces. They would be seen in a variety of contexts and needed to be provide a strong visual identity while reflecting the spirit.

Process

I was fortunate to be working with a partner that knew and liked my work and I had worked with before. This allowed a level of trust that that makes experimentation possible and freedom to create works that fulfilled their needs and remained at the core of my vision for my own creative output. After a comprehensive brief, and conferences with stakeholders, as series of renderings and revisions brought us to the final direction and I went to work on each final piece. Studio visits and ongoing dialogue of course elucidate the process.
