Overview
The clean design was specific to the aesthetic of the hotel lobby. They wanted a 5′ x 7′ piece to cover a specific wall in the hotel lobby. Minimal color, with shoe elements to reference the fashion district where the hotel is located.
Goals
The designers wanted artwork displayed throughout the entire hotel. All the work has edgy, urban, fashion oriented elements to reference the surrounding NYC fashion district and art center. Many artists and craftspeople executed works that ranged from one of a kind artwork, to custom metal handrails and bathroom mirrors.
Process
The designer wanted the piece to revolve around the idea of stiletto shoes. I altered the original design for fabrication purposes. The client dictated the scale, and we worked together to determine the final colors and layout.
