A 3 figure sculpture memorializing the Korean War. The sculpture is cast bronze. Dimensions are 24″ x 22″ x 25″. The sculpture sits on a 36″ black granite pedestal.
It is located at the Veterans Memorial Park in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

The sculpture has a white soldier carrying a Korean child and a black soldier covering his back. The child is almost naked in contrast to the soldiers who are wearing winter uniforms. I wanted the contrast to speak to the urgency of the moment and the vulnerability of the child. I imagined the child representing the future of Korea being carried on the arms of American soldiers. I imagined the white soldier facing South and the black soldier facing north with the 38th parallel running through the middle. Korea was the first war where black and white soldiers fought side by side.

Donald Kenly the donor-patron saw this sculpture in my studio and wanted it to be displayed in the most relevant environment. He contacted Harold Triber, Commander of the Korean Veterans Association Chapter 106 who inmediately fell in love with the sculpture. He was responsible for coordinating and getting proper authorization from the city of Port Saint Lucie Parks Department.
