Overview
The University of Texas at Austin's Department of Educational Psychology partnered with Dell Children's Medical Center to create the Texas Child Study. The Child Study Center provides children with complex developmental and behavioral disabilities the highest quality diagnosis, treatment and education.
Goals
The goal of this project was to fill this waiting room at The Child Study Center with art that would create a calm colorful atmosphere for the families who participate in activities and programs here.
Process
I worked very closely with Dr., William Streusand, the Director of Psychology at Dell Children's Medical Center, on this project. With his inspiration and a good understanding of the work that is done at this facility, I created what I felt was a thoughtful happy space. I included a variety of works, representational and abstract, in hopes of bringing a lightness, a brightness, fun and imagination to everyone who comes here.
Additional Information
I enjoyed creating this space with elements that take people away from their everyday experiences. It was great to be given the opportunity to cover the walls so completely. I hope my work enriches the people who come to this center and supports the wonderful and meaningful work that is being done here.
