Overview
Glass smalti mosaic. An inexpensive art intervention into a bus shelter built in the Miami Beach Art Deco style in the late 1950s. 9’ x 5’.
Goals
The incentive was to encourage ridership on the bus system. The artwork needed to be vibrant to see by passing motorists and durable enough to stand up in a not so good neighborhood.
Process
I was given full independence on developing the project design by Art in Motion, the client.
Additional Information
Art in Motion was the brainchild of Yvette Hurt, who singlehandedly spearheaded a program to integrate art into bus shelters to encourage ridership.
