Overview
The lighting concept is to form a lighting composition between the façade and a lighting system which smoothly changes, generating the feeling of water flow characterized transparency and reflection. The closure consists of strips of glass 8 cm by 2 cm by 250 cm sealed with silicone, generating a continuous internal light, working as a conductive element of tubular fiber. Fluid effects, programmed from DMX customized software, are in connection with the theme of the showroom, which explains the importance of water in homes through the history and provide a strong identity for the company throughout the entire space.
Goals
The lighting system for the new Roca Barcelona Gallery was inspired by the role of water in civilization, particularly the ease and comfort it brings to our homes. Using light, we mimic the fluidity of water to create a relax, contemplative atmosphere for the visitor experiencing the interior spaces and bathroom products of the gallery.
Designed by OAB Office of Architecture and artec3 Studio, its façade made of laminated glass produces astonishing visual effects either in daylight or at night.
The use of artificial light on the glass façade at dusk acts as a veil, lending an almost hypnotic quality to both the exterior and interior spaces. As a result, the gallery visitor feels relaxed and open, even before entering the building (and the passerby feels a little happier, without knowing why).
