Overview
“River Spirit” is a 10,000 sq ft terrazzo floor installation designed for the baggage claim area at the El Paso International Airport.
Goals
The integration goals for the project were to replace the floor carpeting with a public art installation that captured and communicated the character of the region.
Process
The collaboration team for the artistic concept consisted of the artist, the airport community, El Paso's city and regional community. The concept was to gather memories and thoughts about the city in a web database in the form of small quotes and engrave and embed them into the terrazzo installation.
Additional Information
This project has been extended into a new wing being added to the airport. It will be a collaboration between the artist and 2 award winning poets from El Paso.
