Overview

Suspended from the stairwell ceiling, Reflective Drop captures the elegance and tension of a falling water droplet. As it descends, this 7-foot tall stainless steel sculptural piece has captured images of the diverse ecosystems associated with its nearby natural site of Capilano Canyon.

Created out of thousands of exquisitely cut stainless steel patterns, this piece takes advantage of an internal color-changing lighting design that switches slowly over time in response to seasonal changes as well as community cues.

Goals

Reflective Drop is a site-specific commissioned piece for the Lions Gate Community Center located in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. The artwork is thoughtfully designed to celebrate ancient local nature as a prominent source of inspiration among its community. A community that has built its foundations on a balanced and healthy lifestyle within a highly respected natural environment.
