Overview

Launching a brand new 50,000 square foot healthcare facility in September, 2013, San Dimas Medical Group is the largest private OBGYN health care facility in Kern County, California. Apollo Fine Arts was commissioned to install an assortment of artworks to foster an environment of relaxation and calm for all who visit.

Goals

The goals for integrating artwork into this healthcare environment were multiple; to ensure that the works contributed to the calmness and serenity of the space, and install them in such a way that they remained securely in place with no risk of harming patients or interfering with the medical practice.

Process

As a provider of women’s health services, the client sought artwork that would help alleviate anxiety and create a sense of calm and relaxation for patients. Studies on evidence-based design and its ability to reduce stress informed the decision to install nature-themed artworks with a zen-like quality. Steps were taken to ensure the use of eco-friendly materials and avoid VOC’s while maintaining color quality and permanence.
