Overview

In a 12X12 space I placed all my ceramic pieces incorporating the in two simultaneous narratives.

Goals

NCECA came to Milwaukee and a local ceramicist asked me, the month before they came, to instal my work in his storefront gallery. No access to a kiln and no time to create, I installed old work into a narrative called "Phooey Gunfight Collective." The installation was interrupted by another narrative installation called "The Escape of Panama Dorado," which I previously couldn't complete. Without the constraints my friend gave me I would have never solved either idea.

Process

Ty gave me complete freedom, but with a very immediate time limit and budget.

Additional Information

I found the words "Phooey Gunfight" in a Ted Berrigan sonnet. They refer to a poem by Kenneth Koch called "Phooey," which parodies Ezra Pound. The Phooey Gunfight itself is poet on poet warfare, street insurgence. Once the work was placed, and the doors of the gallery open I used social media to promote the show by tweeting play by play flash news of the Phooey Gunfight, these tweets were meant to read like poetry; and I used several others to deliver images and point back to the twitter feed where the action was.
