Overview
Plexiglass and photography balance femininity against institutional misogyny and cultural abuse. The figure wears PPE and a tool belt as protection against the toxic climate, both environmental and social. The mixed media artwork is suspended allowing for limited movement, a metaphor for the current state of women’s rights.
Goals
The artwork was designed to allow maximum flexibility with the hanging mechanism.
Process
Selecting the exact placement was critical and required the university gallery bring in a scissors lift to install the hanging mechanism to the ceiling.
