Overview

This pillar sculpture celebrates the natural life found in the Pacific Northwest. My client purchased the piece while it was on display at the City Hall in Happy Valley, Oregon City in a sculpture-on-loan program. I installed it on her property by welding it to steel embedded in a poured concrete foundation. The sculpture is 84″ x 8″ x 8″ and consists of glazed ceramic relief tile mortared and grouted to cement backer board mounted to a steel support.

Goals

This piece was not commissioned. My goal in creating it was learning to combine ceramic elements into a steel pillar sculpture.
