Overview
Cast and fabricated in mirror polished stainless steel NAUTILUS is a sculpted rendition of the renowned Le Corbusier drawing of a chambered nautilus illustrating perfect proportion and is the corporate identity/logo image for the John Templeton Foundation. From drawings and a hand crafted plaster model the final sculpture was cast and fabricated for installation in the reception area of the foundation’s Pennsylvania headquarters.
Goals
The three dimensional identity logo is a key element in the headquarters reception area. A focal point, the highly polished wall mounted sculpture is an integral part of a welcoming first impression.
Process
Once contracted by the design team the project requirements were clearly outlined. Drawings and plaster models presented, refined and approved. Then working closely with the foundry for the mold making, casting and fabrication stages the mirror polish stainless steel sculpture was created.
Additional Information
Although the client and design team were clear in their wishes and requirements after months and months of work the sculptor selected was unable to create the the three dimensional form. I was then approached and after a comprehensive initial meeting each stage of the design and fabrication process flowed seamlessly with completion and installation of the finished sculpture to the clients satisfaction before deadline.
