Overview
Western Skies scenic Byways was coordinated by Golden Hills with the intention to install public art along several Byways in Iowa : in this case in the heart of Guthrie Center. Accessible from both Interstate 80 and 29, the byways allows travelers to explore and take in a scenic journey along Iowa’s landscapes of rolling hills, working farmsteads and tranquil small town living.Western Skies Scenic Byway offers travelers several easy opportunities to venture off the beaten path. It is a 142-mile route which travels through the middle of western Iowa parallel to I-80.
Goals
The goal was to create a significant work of public art in the heart of the community that would become a landmark for the Western Skies Scenic Byways in Guthrie Center.
Process
A strong collaborative process with Western Skies Scenic Byway , Golden Hills, local sponsors and community members, Main Street Iowa.
