Overview
The vision for the hotel was truly holistic, requiring a design that reflects the beauty of the region in a manner that is environmentally considerate while appealing to the desire of the upscale adventurer.
The hotel property features one of Iceland’s most breathtaking settings. Near Thingvellir National Park, it is beautifully situated on multicolored slopes, with a dramatic view of the lake and mountains and surrounded by hot springs.
Incorporating innovation, sustainability, and nature into its design, driftwood and other natural materials are used extensively in furniture throughout.
Goals
Artwork was an integral part of the space in order to incorporate one of the natural wonders of Iceland. Hengill: It's part of an active volcanic system, a geothermal area with great potential energy which is now being harnessed to produce electricity and hot water for the capital region.
Process
Collaboration of landscape art and architecture which are all integrated in one which was the essential key to merge concepts and ideas.
