Overview
Into the Sun, public funeral chapel. Blown glass, acid etched, lead crystal prisms, laminated in three layers. There is no paint in this window. 25” x 95”.
Goals
A simple and elegant expression for a building of similar nature in a small village in Germany, the window is meant to console friends of the recently deceased. The leaded crystal prisms cast rainbows onto the casket during morning services.
Process
There was no collaboration, the client trusted me entirely. I did however collaborate closely with Derix Glasstudios to render the painting entirely in blown etched glass and silver stain.
Additional Information
In Germany there are often funeral chapels in village cemeteries that are used to hold services. This was a lovely small village in the Taunus mountain area.
