Overview
The client was building a new residential building called “Altitude” in Los Angeles and wanted a large sculpture that would enhance the contemporary art deco style of the building as well as reflect the theme of aviation. The sculpture is fabricated aluminum and is 22ft x 8ft x5ft.
Goals
The goal was to create an iconic sculptural statement that would be recognizable and visible. It was to reflect the theme of aviation and enhance the style of the building. All of these goals were very important and fully integrated in the the overall design.
Process
The art consultant contacted the artist with the goals and the budget for the project. The artist worked to come up with three different designs that met all the goals of the project. The art consultant, the client and the artist worked together redesigned the base to better meet the needs of the site. After the design was approve, the artists made a site visit with the Maquette to meet with the project manager to determine site location and orientation.
