Overview

Commissioned mural for The City Walls Program (City of Detroit) at a community-based, recovery-oriented organization. City Walls partnered with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Vital Strategies, a global nonprofit organization, to commission a mural to give voice to the impact of drug overdose crisis for National Recovery Month. Approximately 55′ W X 15′ H. Spray paint and latex paint.

Goals

Our goal was to bring awareness to evidence-based practices, grow a strong recovery community, support the treatment workforce, celebrate the Detroiters who make recovery possible, and promote the message that recovery is possible for everyone. The overall theme of this mural is hope, resiliency, and recovery.

Process

MDHHS and The City of Detroit provided some guidance and context for Muralmatics to design from. The Greater Detroit Area National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependance provided input for the final mural design as well as hosting the mural on their building.
