Overview
The Breathe Building, Portland Oregon 2015. Multimedia installation that incorporates a “full building tattoo” and glass etchings. The tattoo is painted on the building and interfaces with many different surfaces, entries, and passages. A series of organic paintings relate to each other and are interconnected. As if a spider has formed a web with various organic images that together create one organism, both earthly and cosmic in nature.
Goals
Goals included using the basic concrete block of the building to animate notions of breath and create an organic "skin" that is dynamic.
Process
The Building houses a yoga studio, wellness center and a cafe. The artwork moves around the building to integrate all three. The interior and landscape designers were in conversation with the artist and client to ensure the overall success and integration.
