Overview
Surfer photographs embellished with encaustic wax form a grid. The four pieces measuring 32″x32″ are photographed with Polaroid cameras. They are then scanned, printed and mounted on birch wood. Encaustic wax is applied with a brush and then worked with a palette knife and heat gun to create texture which mimics the water. The pieces are then polished numerous times which results in a luminous surface. Arranged together they tell their stories of passion and dreams.
Goals
Selected to beautify a living room space in a private residence.
Process
Artwork was seen by the client in a gallery and the gallery owner collaborated with the client. Works were selected and the project completed within the 6 week time frame as per the agreement.
