Goals
The two large-scale sculptures are a playful reflection on the connection between nature, health, and lifestyle. The sculptures are located in two areas at the Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre. On the west side of the Centre, a fawn drinks from a faucet. On the northern side, several deer emerge from a series of pipes, transformed flowing into water. These different elements reflect the Aquatic Centre's roles as both a leisure centre and as a competitive training facility. The fawn symbolizes youth and play, while the deer symbolizes adulthood and sport. The continuing flow of water between childhood and adulthood reflects its essential importance in every area of life. The pipes are painted in red and blue, symbolizing oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood, as well as hot and cold water. They link the different parts of the installation together, suggesting that work and play are both components of a healthy lifestyle.
