The property’s visual identity was inspired by the artistic heritage of Scottsdale’s Old Town and the limitless horizon of the surrounding desert. After a strategic research phase spent diving deep into the destination’s history, the firm developed a cohesive narrative for the visual identity of the property that was carried through the artwork, signage, and print and digital collateral. The firm crafted an identity that feels holistic, intriguing, and grounded in the soul of Scottsdale.

The goals and standout features of this project are the many references to local heritage, natural history,
and cultural moments that Studio 11 Design’s styling, curation, and art vertical, Lou Verne, and brand identity development component, Brand Bottega, were able to bring to life. From a collaboration with Western Spirits: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West to exhibit their historic collection of Barry Goldwater photographs to the numerous — and intricate — sculptural art pieces created by local artists, no stone was left unturned.

A palette of jewel tones and layered textiles in turquoise, muted purples, and punchy oranges lends dimensional warmth evocative of an Arizona sunset to the interiors. Slatted walnut wood, geometric lighting, and architectural details pull cues characteristic of Scottsdale’s mid-century modern repertoire of projects. The desert’s boundlessness is inescapable in the lobby, where floating wood ceiling panels draw the eye upwards — with one section opening to the sky. Locally sourced stone and copper - shimmering “jewelry” - are integrated throughout the property. Arizona’s home to the world’s largest copper deposits and since the 1800s, the mining industry has been a chapter in Scottsdale’s story. The mineral and organic elements — tile, wood, stone, and copper — build a layered visual.
