Overview
Lindberg’s work has the spirit of experimentation. Using materials such as epoxy, glass and carbon fabrics, foam, paper, cardboard and colored pigments. He explores the nature of material, from its natural state to it’s altered state, discovering in the process a language of new colors, shapes, transparencies and combinations of form. His creations are progressive and daring. Lindberg has created installations for five public commissions in the Netherlands, three of which are in the atriums of government buildings. His work has been exhibited widely in Europe, and is held in many public and private collections.
This resin cascade is 18 feet tall and was commissioned for a new addition on a private residence in Miami, by an art collecting couple–one of whom is an artist. The materials are carefully chosen to resist fading, the glass fabric is imported from Germany, and the pigments are custom mixed. The making of the artwork is an on site physical performance (see video). The translucent sections of the artwork vary in brightness with the changing daylight.
Goals
To inspire, and to enhance the space.
Process
Meetings were held to discuss sketches, watercolor studies and a model. A vision was agreed upon. Setting up the workspace and realizing the artwork took three days, with most of the work being done on the second day (see video). The clients were present while the artwork was being realized and their interaction helped make an artwork which they, and the artist, love.
