Overview

Day is made night as visitors pass through a darkened corridor that leads them into an ethereal labyrinth of light. The surface of this inflatable building transforms the sun’s glow into a spatial field of geometric pattern. Like an inverted sundial, this space changes in time as the floating planes of light move with the sun’s shifts throughout the day.

Goals

The True/False Festival incorporates immersive artworks into its program to expand the event goers' experience outside the theaters and into the streets of Columbia, Missouri. Commissioned installations create the total event, bringing residents into the festival and travelling attendees into the town. The conceptual design of Atmosphere responded to the themes of the event. The resulting work was inspired by the flickering glow of the cinema as well as True/False's focus on the tension between perception and actuality through its phantom maze of light.
