Overview

This is a facility in Reno, Nevada for Atlantic Aviation. Showcasing Lake Tahoe was the centerpiece of our design concept in a modern interpretation of materials, colors and rich textures that relate to the natural enviornment around Reno-Tahoe. At first glance the clients flying into Reno recognize the images of Lake Tahoe and handiwork of many local artisans in custom woodwork, hand hammered and forged copper, images as well as slices of logs. The Reno FBO facility raises the bar for the industry of private aviation facilities and gives a rich story of the local region.

Goals

A defining theme in the Atlantic Aviation was to display local flavor and give clients a taste of the rich natural elements surrounding Reno-Tahoe with a artist flair. In the inviting stone fireplace a local metal smith Infinity Forge hand hammered copper as well as accents of hand forged metal to acutuate the stone for a truly one of a kind architectural design. Pat Wallis, a local artist flys around the Tahoe area with a camera and then oil paints memorable scenes which we used to flank our boardroom. Note the branch style carpet relates to our theme, along with leaf motif textiles. Photography of Lake Tahoe give an initial impression of the High Sierra jewel at both entrances. Photos are enhanced by a slice of crystal and deep rich blue stone and glass beach bottles. Wood tables were designed and built by a local woodworker with accents of zebra wood, walnut and various knotty alder finishes for a hand crafted addition to the furnishings. The art is immersed into the furniture, the architecture, the walls, the accent tables, the light fixtures and more that speak the language of a high mountain lake.

Process

Marilee Wintz, the interior designer, believes that "Beauty Inspires" in all aspects of the natural enviornment and strives to bring it into the built environment. Marilee has a deep kinship with local artists and coordinated with all artists and parties to create unique and themed designs for all aspects of the interior design and immersed art. The professional artists, as always, exceeded the expectations of the designer and client to give a new fresh look on Tahoe style design that welcomes clients to Reno-Tahoe.
