Pattie Porter Firestone is a sculptor working in metal, wood, LED lighting and stone. Firestone has work publicly on display at Amazon.com in Herndon, VA; The Aspen Institute in Aspen, CO; Chicago Premium Outlets Expansion, Aurora, IL (Simon Premium Outlets) and Potomac Overlook Regional Park, Arlington, Virginia. Her solo exhibitions include 1111 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, DC with Zenith Gallery and her large solo show at American University Museum in the Sylvia Berlin Katzen Sculpture Garden Seismic Dream won critical acclaim. In Santa Barbara Firestone has work at the Brander Winery and temporarily at the Casa del Herrero in Montecito, CA. Collections include collectors in CA, DC, MD, VA, GA, CO, MO, WV, SC and ME. Firestone now serves on the Docent Council of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in Santa Barbara, CA. While living in Washington, DC, she served as President of the Washington Sculptors Group 2004-2009. She won the 2006 Gaia Prize at Potomac Overlook Regional Park, Arlington, Virginia. In 1981-1993 Firestone co-founded the Westside Arts Center, a nonprofit arts organization of artists teaching children in Santa Monica, California. Pattie Porter Firestone grew up in Atlanta, GA and went to Mount Holyoke College in MA studying with Leonard Delonga where she learned to weld, and cast bronze. Firestone studied with Elaine de Kooning, Wayne Thiebaud and George Spaventa at the New York Studio School in Paris and other notable teachers through the years at Otis Parsons in LA, the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC and Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, CO.
