Mary Ann Mears is a sculptor who has been commissioned to create art for over 35 public and private sites across the US. Her work is fabricated in painted aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals and is integrated with landscape and architectural design. She works at varied scales from monumental to intimate and constructs sculptures that are suspended, wall–hung, freestanding, and interactive. Some have been conceived as focal, iconic pieces; others create environments and/or series of encounters. Her work responds to specific spaces and to the vision of the institution, community, and designers with whom she collaborates.
