CODAworx, the hub of the commissioned art economy, announced today that it will produce this year’s CODAsummit in Denver, Colorado, on September 30-October 2, 2020. This third annual conference explores the intersection of art and technology, bringing together leading artists, fabricators, technology companies and thought leaders in art and design from around the globe. CODAsummit 2020 focuses on the paradigm shift in art enabled by technology and features artists who are using technology to create placemaking commissions.

Trained as an architect and musician at Princeton and MIT, Janney creates works of art that can best be described as interactive spaces where patterns of changing sound and color stimulate the imagination.

When artists, designers, industry resources, and clients work together, common places are transformed into spectacular spaces. CODAworx, the hub of the commissioned art economy, has once again partnered with Interior Design magazine to announce the winners of the seventh annual international CODAawards: Collaboration of Design + Art. The CODAawards recognize collaborations that result in outstanding projects, which successfully integrate commissioned art into interior, architectural, or public spaces.

The art and technology worlds can often feel locked in competition, each prizing what the other inadvertently seeks to curtail: the art world eager to preserve and appreciate natural beauty, and the technology world determined to seek enlightenment and advancement. But they needn’t be at odds – and the inaugural CODAsummit held across September 20 and 21 at the Center For Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico proved beyond any doubt that technology can be used to explore and discuss environmental issues.

Earlier this month Las Vegas saw the grand opening of the world’s largest marijuana dispensary. Not only a destination for cannabis shoppers, this marijuana dispensary, in Las Vegas fashion, is an attraction in itself. The Planet 13 Las Vegas Cannabis Superstore and Entertainment Complex is an interactive art experience from projection mapping, to an aerial orb show, to an interactive LED floor that lights up as soon as guests walk in.

CODAworx, the hub of the commissioned art economy, announced today that it will produce CODAsummit: The Intersection of Art, Technology and Place in Santa Fe, NM on September 20-21, 2018. The groundbreaking event will create a platform for conversation at this milestone moment in art history when technology is playing a key role in major commissioned artworks. CODAsummit will focus on this paradigm shift by featuring artists who are using technology to create placemaking commissions and the collaborations occurring between artists, designers, architects, scientists, and technologists.

"I regard light as a material," says artist and lighting designer Brian W. Brush’s whose scintillating architectural installations harness refractive and reflective materials to impart a sense of movement and complexity inspired by parametric design. Whether constructed from anodized aluminum, fiber optic cables, polycarbonate, or a data-driven LED lights, each takes flight from a similar concept. At their foundation is a single, autonomous component that, when duplicated hundreds or thousands of times, produces a complex and dynamic organism all its own. They also begin with a similar goal: to engage individual viewers in a shared experience, whether that be to learn something new, identify with a local landmark, or even interact with the responsive qualities of a piece itself.
