Overview
History is engraved in the stone.
I believe that it is the knowledge which build our identity and what make us who we are.
The sculptures at the underground Metro entrance represent this concept.
Goals
A series of books placed seemingly randomly on the floor start to define the shape of human being and design a man made out of books.
Made out of knowledge!.
The presence of the most important bookstore in Sichuan in TAIKOO LI reinforce this concept.
The sculptures are in stone because stone just as books, owns our memories.
I’ve chosen to use as different quality of stone as how many different genre of books there are in a library.
The different stones’s colors and qualities wish to represent the universality of knowledge and come from all over the planet from America, Africa, Europe and China.
Process
This was a collaboration between myself, the architect and art consultant. We also understood my vision and embraced the concept.
