Overview
This sculpture is made up of 108 stainless steel “stars” strung on five strands hung between two halves of the W Hotel and Condo project in Hollywood. At night the “stars” shimmer, reflecting the neon lights of the Pantages Theatre across the street.
At W Hollywood Hotel & Residences, artist Pae White installed a monumental kinetic sculpture. The installation consists of stainless steel forms suspended between the hotel and condominium buildings from tensioned cables and ball bearing swivels, allowing the individual elements to shift and shimmer when there is a breeze. The forms are a wide variety of laser cut stainless steel shapes, powder coated in seven metallic colors. The five stand sculpture fills the space with light and movement.
