Overview
A custom couture rug by heirloom quality rugmaker, EMMA GARDNER DESIGN, is featured in the swanky dining area, The Den, of the luxury boutique hotel WestHouse NY designed by Jeffrey Beers International.
Goals
Emma Gardner was commissioned to design "floor art" that would give the property an upscale residential look. The custom "Mermaid" rug helps convey the Jazz-Age feel that the acclaimed design firm Jeffrey Beers International infused into the interiors. The colors of the handwoven piece coordinate seamlessly with the furnishings and anchor the room. The result is a glamorous room that feels more like a private den than a hotel hangout.
Process
Designer Emma Gardner worked directly with JBI designer Dina Lamanna and the Nepalese weavers to create an effortless floor piece. Matching colors from the sofas and chairs and design details from the paintings and nautilus-inspired details, Emma designed a rug that echoes the Art Deco look of the hotel.
