Client: Trumpet Blossom Cafe

Overview

Completed for Trumpet Blossom Cafe in Iowa City, Iowa, this 16’x50’ mural was designed in collaboration with a local flower shop, Willow & Stock, to revitalize a patio after a municipal construction project decimated the nearby canopy. The mural was painted using a scaled reference and actual plant specimens to appear like they rest on the wall itself.

Goals

Helping support a beloved local business was the main goal of this project, as well as collaboration with another local business in the design stage for the mural. The imagery is not just reflective of and in conversation with the values and mission of both businesses, but also stands in visual opposition to the sea of concrete around the cafe, helping add human touch and attention that better reflects what is happening within the building itself.
