Overview

Life’s beautiful journey is symbolized with the metamorphosis of Monarch butterflies in the sculpture “Tranquility”. Panels of acrylic glisten in the sunlight, casting an interactive display of color on the ground. This 14-foot-high painted stainless steel and acrylic sculpture is a symbol of renewal, reflection, and a celebration of spiritual wellness.

Goals

Soaring above at 14-feet, 2 monarch butterflies are portrayed with colorful acrylic panels in delicate hand-painted wings. Sustainable for outdoor use, "Tranquility" is ideal for a healing garden where the tranquil environment promotes healing and recovery. Butterflies symbolize celebration and hope and the warm colors of the Monarch are used to evoke positive feelings and thoughts.

Process

The vertical nature of "Tranquility" was achieved with the help of a structural engineer who collaborated with Matthew to create a stable support system for the butterflies.
