Overview

Part of the immersive experience of “The Taste of Priceless”. Inviting the viewers into a hyper-sensorial experience induced by color, texture, and abstract forms. The labyrinth-like intervention began with a multi-layered set of animations, projected onto a winding paper soft wall. The multiplicity of colors, shapes and vibrating frequencies in the piece evoked a physiological response and awakening of the senses, alluding to the exhibition’s theme of ‘Passion and Optimism’.

Goals

Mastercard unveiled its latest multi-sensory experience with the "Taste of Priceless," an immersive three-day exhibition that brings together a newly commissioned snakelike environment by Monika Bravo. Her work was woven beautifully along with the work of other artists such as Daniel Lismore, Marilyn Minter, and Jennifer Rubell at NYC's Spring Studios.

Exploring the role of identity through taste, the exhibition invites guests on an artist-led journey that culminates in the unveiling of two bespoke macarons conceived by Raphaël Castoriano and crafted by Ladurée, which encapsulate Mastercard in two custom flavors: Passion and Optimism.

Process

Due to the ephemeral quality of the project which was to unveil the Taste of Priceless, Monika decided to utilize Molo Design and their acclaimed soft-wall structure as the textural canvas to project her animations. A perfect surface for enveloping the viewers in a mesmerizing experience for the senses.

She also worked very closely with Farkas Fulop (mapping /video technician, Levy Lighting) to create a seamless 30 animations, neatly projected onto the 15 paper soft-walls.

Additional Information

MONIKA BRAVO
I am a multi-disciplinary artist born in Bogotá, Colombia. I studied fashion design in Rome & Paris and photography in London and NYC. I moved to Miami Beach, during 2020. I embody my own perspective and no longer seek “truth”; my vision is a synthesis of all disciplines, guiding me to manifest a reality that matches my desire to evolve. I create mesmerizing environments for public spaces, intimate interpersonal interactions through astrological readings, and meaningful spaces for individual and communal development through talks and workshops. I enjoy directing and producing diverse projects, from complex multi-media installations and public art commissions to artists’ books, textile design, and community workshops – thus, I see no boundaries between the applied and fine arts. I thrive in situations where I am working with limitations and constraints, creating opportunities for innovative projects that serve communities for years to come. I enjoy challenging myself with new technologies and materials, discovering new ways of manifesting my ideas to fit the needs of the location.
