This is a spherical piece, 12 feet in diameter, Steel armature, made from fire rated ” Varia” Thermoplastic. Hanging in the Atrium of BCH Waltham.
The space was designed with a Mobile in mind. This integrated perfectly into their plans.
Art Consultant Pam Wilkins of Wilkins Art, Boston, commissioned this and two other piecees for the BCH complex. She had a 6 week deadline, and we worked together successfully to design, find a fire rated material, build and deliver this in 6 weeks.
I have been told that people smile when they enter the Atrium and nurses and doctors, go there in their spare time to enjoy it.
