Overview
There are 3 individual music sections. Each one is laser-cut out of a 3/8″ aluminum sheet. Each section is approx. 5-6 feet in length. They are welded to a plate and screwed into the brick wall. They are powder coated flat black.
Goals
Since Cafe Paradiso is a very popular music venue, it was critical that the design for this commission convey THAT on the outside of their building. Music actually DOES flow through the wall. So, I thought it would be interesting to SEE it, as well as hear it !
Process
There were several of us who worked on this project. We had an artist/designer, a CAD professional and an aluminum welder. Of course we also hired a company that did powder coat painting and a laser cutting company.
Additional Information
Absolutely everyone LOVES it. The music notes in the design are not from a specific song...they are random.
