Overview
The new construction UCHealth Steadman Hawkins clinic is a cutting-edge facility with a patient focus on sports performance, offering advanced orthopedic services. The four-story facility includes a large, airy waiting room with two large walls of windows reaching up to 34ft at the highest point. This space served as a perfect location for a suspended art piece. Gallun Snow wanted to provide their client an art installation that felt custom and specific to the purpose of this modern facility.
Goals
Design Development Plot, Plan, Prepare.
LYNNEL designed a suspended installation of acrylic art panels to be hung within a 15′ x 15′ x 20′ volume. A map was drawn to locate the placements and heights of 24 perpendicular art panels, which were fabricated in three sizes.
Mounted to a sloped ceiling, the panels are suspended at varying heights, with two mounting points on each panel.
Process
Commission Artwork just for you.
The artwork colors used were informed by the overall color motif used throughout the facility. This artwork – derived from our Nouvelle Series – communicates a sense of movement and vitality with a contemporary, abstract feel.
The piece became a commission when LYNNEL artist Lynn Heitler selected athletes' images and wove them discreetly into many of the panels with the Nouvelle artwork.
