Overview

This project is an ongoing project since the dedication of the church. Each of the windows has a predetermined theme chosen by Monsignor Gunn. Those wishing to donate a window can choose from those themes. This not only decorates the worship space, but gives donators a personal attachment.

Goals

The stained glass window designs are meant to express devotion to God and is a Faith Journey.

The windows on the east side of the church have themes of Mary “Mother Of God”, scenes where Mary appears in scripture.

The windows on the west side of the church are themes of the Gospels of Jesus, during Easter and Lenten Season.

Process

The stained glass project has been a collaboration of artists. When full donation for each particular window is received the stained glass window is then commissioned.

After approval the finished painting is given to JIM berberich, who is a great glass painter and artist. Don then proceeds with his fantastic talent to cut, paint and fire the glass pieces of the scene within the window.

Rick Findora of Morning Glory Glass Studio designs and draws the full layout of the window and transom windows, glass cutting, glass beveling, leading, assembling and installation.

Additional Information

Prior to building the members of the congregation were asked what they wanted to see in the new church. The most common answer was “Stained glass windows”. When the students St. John’s School were asked why they liked stained glass, one young girl said “Because it lets in the Light of God”.
