Overview
Shower of Light was a site specific installation of 33 hand blown “Rain Light” fixtures suspended by custom surgical stainless tubing. The width is 18' x approx. 3' deep x approx 5' from the top to the bottom glass element. The fixtures are suspended by a steel grid approx 14' above the ground.
Goals
The object of his installation was to produce a sculptural and functional lighting installation that has the flexibility of being reconfigured to adapt to various locations.
Process
Will Dexter designed the glass forms that were then produced by Taylor Backes Glass Studios. Each fixture was fabricated by Taylor Backes using surgical stainless braided mesh tubing. The installation was done on site at American Street Showroom with the assistance of Karla Trinkley and American Street director Kim Kamens.
