Overview

A back-lit, shingled light wall composed of over 300 acrylic panels. Each panel has one corner lifted, as if a page turning in a book. Multiplied across the 40 foot wall, this slight move imbues the wall with a depth and complexity. Upon entering the courtyard the wall feels whole yet rippled. Moving to the opposite end and looking back towards the entry, the wall seems to expand and dissolve as each panel opens a view to the lighting strips contained within.

Goals

A shingled light wall composed of over 300 acrylic panels. Each panel has one corner lifted, as if a page turning in a book. Multiplied across the 45 foot wall, this slight move imbues the wall with depth and complexity. The installation has served as the centerpiece and backdrop for the Materials & Applications Exhibition Space in Los Angeles, defining a space for the annual Silverlake Film Festival.

Additional Information

The installation has served as the centerpiece and backdrop for the Materials & Applications Summer Lecture Series, defining a space for a crowd of local design enthusiasts gathered to see the presentations of other young architects and designers.
