Overview

Commissioned for Will Rogers Park in OKC. Welded and powder coated steel. 9 ft. x 3.5 ft. x 3 ft. Designed in CAD and other design software. The existing stone and concrete plinth was designated as the sculpture location.

Goals

The city had a bronze sundial that was donated for the site. The sundial was stolen while in storage and an open call for a contemporary sculpture was issued. The work was meant to reflect the vibrancy and growth associated with the extensive botanical gardens located in the park where seeds and pods grow to emanate a welcoming and complex ecosystem.

Process

I was selected from a national open call and presented my proposal to a selection committee of 6 people. Outside of working with the architect and an engineer to establish the acceptable mounting solution for the city permits, there was little other collaboration required on this project.
