Client: Montgomery County, MD

Overview

A ten-foot high, by twelve-foot long red, serpentine wall made of aluminum filled with negative space in the form of thousands of holes of various sizes.

Goals

The site was once the location of an apple orchard. It is now part of downtown Silver Spring, MD. We wanted this piece to have soft lines to integrate well with the existing pocket park, as well as an abundance of negative space to frame the surroundings as one looks through the work.

Process

The artist was the designer. Collaboration took place between three different studios to create the piece. There was coordination with the county park service as to the exact placement of the artwork within the park.
