Overview
46' long, 12' tall interior mural.
Goals
This mural was designed for the PRIDE adult daycare room for the most physically and mentally challenged clients of Opportunity Village. The artwork features extensive amount of tactile elements, such as protruding texture on figures and braille text. Tactile features are placed on the wall to be easily reached and enjoyed by clients with poor eyesight sitting and lounging in wheelchairs.
Process
I had a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the Opportunity Village team, including the PRIDE room occupants. Although the room's clients were severely handicapped, they were able to communicate their wishes and desires to me what they wanted to see on the mural. As a matter of fact, a great majority of the figures on the mural are from the wishlist of the clients.
