Overview

“Portal” is a 7000 pixels of animated LED light hallway designed and animated by Akiko Yamashita in 2015.

Process

Carmen Zella curated this work after being approached by the property owner to resolve the issue of safety and bring pedestrians into the interior courtyard from the street. Previously a dimly lit corridor, Yamashita’s design has not only encouraged people to enter, but they have made this little corridor a sensation on social media with visitors dancing and enjoying the atmosphere of lights in this space.
