Overview
This project was done for the Wells Fargo corporate headquarters in Des Moines IA.
The process was to take a 36″ square piece and turn it into a 12′ x 15′ work of art for this very prominent wall. The piece was made in 6 modules and made to slot together and hang on a system of cleats. Each square is copper painted with oil laminated to wood and attached to a wood grid clad in copper to look like solid copper. The second piece I created is the 14″ x 42″, behind reception desk.
Goals
The goal was to build the larger piece, and once that was designed, the idea of making complimentary work for behind the reception desk helped fill out the space nicely.
Process
The art consultant was familiar with my work. She was specifically drawn the to the quilt effect I create. Starting with this concept, we worked together on size, layout, design and color scheme.
