Overview

A photographic mural and animation on large LED screens, show abstract images in muted colors. The visual references directly to the outdoor specifics of the architecture of the location in midtown modernist Manhattan. The installation navigates the experience of living in the polarity of life between the digital and the physical realms, so obvious since 2020.

Goals

This space is polyvalent, both functioning as office space and a place of coming together. The same screen used for teleconferencing is also the surface for the immersive animation Parallel Fields. Creating a communal space in which people can come together within their various roles and relationships.

Process

The approach to developing Parallel Fields can be described as an ongoing painterly collage in which digital and analog imagery is superimposed, merged, and woven into a mesmerizing whole.

There were various meetings between the Law Firm and Bravo to narrow down all the three components of the commission, a photographic mural seamed in 4 panels, an animation that uses a 13x8 ft LED screens, and a set of prints mounted and framed for the Board room.

An interplay of visual language in which the digital and the physical realm merge in a piece of organic fabric, with the tangible coming from the intangible and vice versa.

Additional Information

MONIKA BRAVO
I am a multi-disciplinary artist born in Bogotá, Colombia. I studied fashion design in Rome & Paris and photography in London and NYC. I moved to Miami Beach, during 2020. I embody my own perspective and no longer seek “truth”; my vision is a synthesis of all disciplines, guiding me to manifest a reality that matches my desire to evolve. I create mesmerizing environments for public spaces, intimate interpersonal interactions through astrological readings, and meaningful spaces for individual and communal development through talks and workshops. I enjoy directing and producing diverse projects, from complex multi-media installations and public art commissions to artists’ books, textile design, and community workshops – thus, I see no boundaries between the applied and fine arts. I thrive in situations where I am working with limitations and constraints, creating opportunities for innovative projects that serve communities for years to come. I enjoy challenging myself with new technologies and materials, discovering new ways of manifesting my ideas to fit the needs of the location.
