Overview

In this immersive reinterpretation of archetypes of the domestic interior, orange-and-dart molding, rethinks historical fertility symbolism. Find Ribbon Splat (yep, much taller than the back of a Chippendale Chair) and Column Orange lurking before Still Life With Oranges.

The resin – a material with color in its thickness and surface – created unexpected reflections, refractions, and light pools when installed site-specifically in the space. As colorist Henri Matisse might have said as his interns peeled paper chunks off walls in Mediterranean light, the chosen material ingredients allow the artist to “carve into color”. Savor it. Orange Room offers true chromatic indulgence.

Goals

The artwork was the central focus of the installation project and was of utmost importance to the overall design.

Process

Several discussions took place to find a suitable venue with needed natural light. The rest of the work was done by the designer (and installation crew).

Additional Information

Salivate over orange for its juicy existence as a fruit and as a color in the spectrum in these atmospheric fruit displays.
